All our accelerometers, vibration meters, etc., are delivered with current calibration certificates, traceable to UKAS. Our ISO 9001 laboratory is audited by British Standards and we are Sponsor Members of the Institute of Acoustics.

There are two main types of accelerometer, the traditional piezoelectric [PE] charge accelerometer and the Line Drive type, sometimes called ICP, DeltaTron, Isotron, Constant Charge Line Drive [CCLD] or other trade names. The official name for these types is IEPE = Integrated Electronic Piezo-electric and because of the internal electronics the analysis equipment must include suitable power supplies - further information.
Accelerometer are fairly robust but the cables are easily damaged, so please take care.

Metra Accelerometers

Vibration Measurement using a Sound Level Meter
Sound level meters can also be used to measure vibration if the microphone can be replaced with an accelerometer. To measure low frequency vibration the meter should have a Linear or Flat setting or include the appropriate filters
The B&K 2250 has built-in engineering (vibration) units and can be supplied with the FFT option for narrow band analysis.
If you already own a suitable meter, order a B&K JJ 2615 or a Nor 1447 preamplifier input adaptor and a B&K accelerometer to make vibration measurements using a Sound Level Meter.
